SAMUEL JENKINS MUSIC
About Samuel
A versatile and accomplished musician, Samuel Jenkins composes, arranges, and produces diverse styles of music, both as an originating artist and a commissioned professional. He has written scores for documentaries, advertisements, trailers, full-length stage plays, concert performances, and others. As a virtuosic violinist and skilled pianist, he has performed in a myriad of live and recorded settings.
Samuel’s compositional style evinces a combination of both beauty and contrast - beauty in both the sweeping soundscape of a full orchestra and the heart-pulsing rhythms of diverse instrumentation, and contrast in the comparison of sounds that are cacophonic and those that convey peace, of dizzying rhythms and near silence. The music has a fantastical quality about it, rich in inspiration, transcendent, breathtaking, and exquisitely developed to interpret the essence of story in cinema or in branding.
Samuel earned both a Masters (MM) in Musical Composition (Houghton College, NY) as well as a Bachelors (BM) in Composition (Eastern Washington University, WA) with an overall emphasis in violin performance. He was trained in TV and Advertising Scoring in the NYU 2021 Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) TV and Advertising Scoring Workshops, coached by acclaimed composers such as Blake Neely (“The Flash” TV series) and Sean Callery (“Bull” TV series). While at Houghton, he studied with Dr. Carrie Magin, a Grammy-nominated composer whose music has been featured at Carnegie Hall.
A notable recent project was writing the end credits music to the 2021 documentary “Freedom Cry: Sex Trafficking in America,” produced by Dr. Meri Crouley in association with Destiny Studios (Los Angeles, CA).
